Achievements in Sports Career:
- Bronze medalist in 100 meters backstroke in the 1980 Olympic Games
- Silver medalist in 100 meters backstroke at the 1979 World Student Games in Mexico.
- Silver medalist in 100 meters backstroke at the 1981 World Student Games in Romania.
- Ranked in the Top 10 backstroke swimmers in the World from 1979-1981.
- Member of USSR National Team for 5 consecutive years.
- 7 times USSR National champion in 100 and 200 meters backstroke.
- 5 times USSR National silver medalist in 100 and 200 meters backstroke.
- 3 times USSR National bronze medalist in 100 and 200 meters backstroke.
Educational Background:
- Master’s Degree in Coaching and Physical Education from the Kharkov University of Physical Education including courses such as: methodology of sport training, physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, biochemistry, sport medicine for high level competitive swimmers.
- Completed Advanced Course for High Level Coaches in Kiev, Ukraine.
- 2 years of studying for PhD with development of Swimming Technique and Methodology of Sport Training for high level swimmers in Lvov, Ukraine.
Coaching Experience:
- 5 years with Age Group coaching in Soviet Union sport club “Dynamo”.
- 5 years experience as a Head Coach of Kharkov Polytechnic University Swimming Team.
- 14 year experience as a coach with various clubs in Central Ohio.
