For those of you who haven’t worked with Google’s calendar before, here are some tips and answers to questions you may have. If you’ve got a question, and you don’t see an answer listed, please send me a note, and I’ll do my best to answer your question.
When is the calendar updated?
We don’t publish the schedule for the entire year at one time – this is because we need to coordinate pool time with the JCC staff, and this doesn’t happen for the entire year in one fell swoop. If you subscribe to the calendar, though, as soon as we publish updates, you’ll get them automatically.
Can I use this calendar from Outlook?
Yes! Google calendars are easy to link to other calendars, including Outlook. Here is a page with information about calendar sharing for our calendar.
Why are there multiple calendars?
Each practice group is shown as a separate calendar. This lets us see each calendare in a different color, and it also helps those who are subscribing to the calendars, since they can subscribe to only the groups they’re interested in, and they won’t see all the other schedules.
What does the “+1″ mean?
If you see this, it’s because there are too many scheduled activities to fit in the little box that Google’s trying to draw. If you click on the “+1″, you’ll see a complete list for that day.
You can also choose which calendars you see, so you can view only events for your practice group(s). Note: events that apply to the whole team are in the “Dynamo Swim Team” calendar, so please keep that calendar selected! The second screen shot on to the right shows the drop-down arrow at the top of the calendar screen that’s used to select the calendars you’re viewing.
